A word from our director Susan Chapp
Forestry Action Committee has been in existence for 17 years. For the first 10 years we were simply a community group, and utilized fiscal sponsors for our funded activities. In 2002 we made the growth step to become a 501(c)3 nonprofit entity. We are now engaged in some growth steps to become a more mature organization. The step we are focusing on now is to share with the world who and what we are that is so special, and how our philosophy actually plays out in our activities.
FAC is founded on the philosophy that ecosystem balance can only be built from the bottom up and can only be maintained by the people who are actually occupying that space. In keeping with this philosophy we have always laid low to the ground, taken our direction and priorities from the grass roots and from the earth, and quietly done our work with landowners and community planting trees, controlling weeds, etc. I have come to realize that during these last 17 years of laying low and quietly following our philosophy and doing our work, FAC has developed a lot of effective procedures for how to work with landowners and community and get good things done.
In this next years a new FAC focus is going to be learning how to share with the larger world these useful things we have learned. We are working on some videos right now and soon we will have clips to put on our web site. This is an exciting journey we are embarking on of learning how to better share ourselves with the world.
